#93: Mitchell Park in the Middle of March

Enjoy the silence while it lasts during the quietest time of year in Greenport.

You might think that mid-March on the North Fork is a frustrating desert wasteland of boredom and end-of-winter doldrums. And in some ways, you're right. But on a visit to Mitchell Park a few days ago just after noon, we had a nice weekday visit with peace, quiet and blissful isolation in a place normally teeming with activity at the ice rink during the winter and everywhere else during the warmer months. Check out this slideshow of the last few days of an empty marina and a chance for a few uninterrupted minutes of contemplation — then head over to the village and try it yourself.
