Oct. 20: Five Weekend Happenings

Meet the candidates in Orient and go bird watching at Dam Pond this weekend.

This weekend features a meet-the-candidates session in Orient, a bird walk and a haunted attraction to gear up for Halloween.

1. Meet this year's candidates for Southold Town Supervisor and Council on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Poquatuck Hall in Orient. Refreshments will be served at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Q&A session. Be sure to check out our roundups and profiles of candidates here and stay tuned for more.

Go find them at Dam Pond in East Marion and at Orient County Park with a birdwatching group from the North Fork Audubon Society on Saturday. You will meet at the Red House at Inlet County Park in Greenport at 8 a.m. Rick and Linda Kedenburg will lead the tour.

on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the , 70 Love Lane in Mattituck, for Adopt-a-Pet month. Funds raised will support area animal rescue groups and no-kill shelters. The Furry Fashion Parade will start at 4 p.m.

at 1508 Main Road, Jamesport, a very scary haunted attraction not for children under 14. It runs all weekend beginning at 6 p.m. until 12 a.m. Tickets are $18.
