Oct. 17: Five Reasons to Look Forward to the Week Ahead

A scallop dinner, a 5K run and lots of Halloween stuff should keep you busy all week long.

There are plenty of opportunities for Halloween scares and fundraising opportunities this week:

during a scallop dinner at the Soundview Restaurant, 58775 Route 48 in Greenport on Tuesday at noon. It's only $25 to enjoy a plate of those delicate morsels and raise money for a local institution.

The 14th Annual 5K Run for the Ridley starts at 9 a.m. on Main Street in Riverhead, goes through a quiet residential neighborhood and finishes on McDermott Avenue.

Get spooked — and educated — with the following Halloween activities this week:

Unmask the famous tale on Monday at the , 53705 Route 25 in Southold, at 6:30 p.m. The session is free.

,1508 Main Road in Jamesport, on Thursday at 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. The haunted attraction is also open at other times throughout the month and is not for the weak-hearted soul. Tickets are $18. Children under 14 will not be admitted.

on Saturday at 3 p.m. The event is $15 and is fun for all ages. Proceeds will benefit Perry Day Care Center in Greenport.
