Oct. 17: Boat Stuff, Charity Walks and Music Time

Sunday activities include plenty on land, and on sea.

Sunday is another great day on the North Fork (unless you really had your heart set on that Southold library expansion). From boats, to boogie-downs, there's plenty happening.

Your five:

1. If a good Sunday for you means brushing up on all things boating, drop anchor at the Port of Egypt Marina. The local marina will be holding its open house, offering demonstrations on everything from boat insurance, to docking and cooking seafood.

2. If nothing spells Sunday like philanthropy, then lace up for the Crop Walk for Hunger, a fundraiser by the First Presbyterian Church of Southold. Proceeds will benefit world hunger organizations. And it's good for the glutes, too.

3. It wouldn't be a Sunday if there weren't music playing across wine country. Acoustic pop/rock artist Bob Blatchley will be crooning at Jason's Vineyard, while Peconic Bay Winery will feature modern folk/rock artist Nina Et Cetera. Take your pick.

4. In cased you missed it, Southold residents voted down the library expansion, as many voters were not ready to accept the resulting property tax hike in this economic environment. Got a reaction? Leave it in the comments.

5. And our regional editor and wine columnist Henry Powderly would love to hear from you about your favorite Long Island wines. What reviews would you like to see more of, types, producers, grape varieties, etc.? E-mail henry@patch.com.
