More Snow Expected on the North Fork Before Valentine's Day Morning

A weak snowstorm will pass over Long Island, leaving behind up to 5 inches of snow.

Don't put away the snowblowers just yet — the winter is set to continue its snowy onslaught.

The National Weather Service is forecasting a weak snowstorm will roll over Long Island on Wednesday night into Thursday morning, leaving behind between 3 to 5 inches in on the North Fork.

While the amount of snow will be minimal compared to the amount left behind by the Feb. 8 blizzard, the snow will accumulate enough to cause treacherous driving conditions on the morning of Valentine's Day and add to the headache caused by the remaining snow on the ground.

Unlike the last storm, winds should not be an issue this time around. Forecasts call for light winds around 8 to 13 miles per hour, possibly gusting to 18 at times. It will not create whiteout conditions, but might cause moderate blowing of newly fallen snow.

The storm, part of a low-pressure system, will bring behind it a cold front that will help shift temperatures back for the end of the week, as highs will drop to the mid-30s ahead of what could be the next talked about winter storm.

As of this time, the National Weather Service has not issued any advisories or warnings associated with the Feb. 13 to Feb. 14 storm.
