Jan. 17: MLK Memorials, Coat Drive and a First Crush

If you missed Southold's Martin Luther King ceremony on Sunday, read about it today and find out where other East End memorials are taking place.

Though Southold and Riverhead held ceremonies to honor Dr. Martin Luther King on Sunday, other East End venues are hosting celebrations today.

1. The First Baptist Church of Riverhead hosts a  at 8 a.m. at the Hyatt Regency Windwatch on Motor Parkway in Hauppauge. Call 631-727-3446 for more information.

3. Clean out your closets today and donate your hats, gloves, mittens, and anything else that might help keep a needy family warm this winter at a at 1395 Fleetwood Road in Cutchogue. The event to commemorate Martin Luther King Day begins at 3 p.m. Donations will go to a North Fork charity.

4. Do you love Shakespeare’s “Hamlet?” Then you might love to hate it by auditioning for the Hampton Theater Company’s production of Paul Rudnick’s comedy tonight at 7 p.m. Auditions are being held at the Quogue Community Hall located at 125 Jessup Avenue. The play runs from March 17 through April 3. Call 631-766-0537.
