What’s up with all the balloons around town, you ask? Realtors and homeowners are showing off in a coordinated national open house event this weekend, according to Nicholas Planamento, a broker at in Mattituck president of the Hamptons and North Fork Real Estate Association.
The National Association of Realtors created the nationwide event to provide a convenient weekend of a sort of one-stop–shopping for those looking for a new place, Planamento said.
“Those who are out driving around can cover so much more territory this weekend compared to a typical weekend,” he said Saturday afternoon. “And it’s an absolutely beautiful day, homeowners have their spring cleaning done, and everyone is optimistic about selling their homes.”
Some brokers are offering drinks, appetizers and other specials this weekend to promote the event across the East End.
“Everyone across America is doing this,” Planamento said. “It’s a great chance to get out, get some fresh air if you’re not gardening and check out the inventory in our community.”
