Five Weekend Must-Do's: Charity Road Races, 'Harvey' Opens, Kevin Zraly

It's another great weekend on the North Fork with community theater, 5K and 10K races and an appearance by a famous wine guru.

Take your pick (after you pick your pumpkin if you haven't yet) of things to do this weekend, from running for good causes to the opening of a community play:

1. Run a race for good causes on Shelter Island or in Riverhead this Saturday. Help raise money for a cure for breast cancer at the Shelter Island 5K run/walk at 10 a.m. beginning at Crescent Beach, or help support the Jamesport Fire Department and various other charities at the which begins at Iron Pier Beach and ends at the bay in Jamesport. That race, which was rescheduled from an August date due to Tropical Storm Irene, starts at 9 a.m.

2. the classic comedy about a man who has an imaginary rabbit companion, opens at 8 p.m. at the , 12700 Sound Avenue in Mattituck. The show runs every weekend through October. Tickets are $15.

for the season on Saturday starting at 8 a.m. and ending at 2 p.m. in the Adams Street parking lot in the village. The Greenport Parent-Teacher Association will have a Halloween costume swap and will be collecting clothing for their annual clothing drive; and several vendors will be selling their wares to the tune of live musical acts. The market opened in May.

4. Members and candidates for the will meet for a fundraiser Thursday night at in Southold at 6:30 p.m., while the will rally against at in Southold on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Frank Dalene, vice chairman of Quiet Skies an East Hampton, will speak.

will make an appearance at in Cutchogue on Sunday at 2 p.m. to lecture on tasting and to sign copies of his latest book. Zraly is the 2011 recipient of a Lifetime Achievement award from the James Beard Foundation.
