Feb. 28: Life Independence, Freezing Rain, Pet Professionals

It's back to business after a weekend of Winterfest fun and a tragic Southold House fire.

North Fork Patch highlights the following things to do and know after a weekend filled with music and community outpouring to a family who lost everything in a house fire on Friday:

1. Senior citizens: Learn techniques to be at a seminar at 2 p.m. held at , 1500 Brecknock Road in Greenport. The session, sponsored by , will teach seniors how to create a safe home environment and learning new strategies for personal care. Call 631-477-5176.

2. Long Island Pet Professionals hosts a seminar on how to better market and promote your or animal rescue venture at 7 p.m. tonight at Digger O'Dell's restaurant in Riverhead. The networking event will feature Judy McCleery, owner of the Puparazzi Pet Photography. Call 631-283-1610.
