Schultz said she had no idea that a five-minute video she'd shot two years ago for while on tour of Plum Island would get noticed by a filmmaker researching the project on YouTube.
"They called me out of the blue a few weeks ago, just before Thanksgiving, saying they loved the video and wanted to cast me on the show as a Plum Island 'expert,'' she said. "I was blown away — I'd forgotten about that video but apparently it still has some pull on YouTube."
Schultz will essentially play herself — a local journalist who has been to the island and has heard years worth of stories since moving the area. She'll be playing alongside noted historian, author and researcher John Gresham, a Virginia resident with an expertise in clandestaine operations around the world.
The show will feature interviews with other locals who have worked on or written about Plum Island. Longtime North Fork Patch contributor is also helping the film crew as production assistant. The show is scheduled tentatively to air in early spring.
