Jan. 7: Basketball, Exercise and a 'New' Model-T

High school basketball remains in full swing as Cutchogue Historical Society announces the addition of a Model-T to the Village Green.

If we don't get too Friday afternoon, here's five things to check out if you can get out:

 1. Like the Shrek movies? presents a free viewing of "Shrek Forever After" today at 3:30 p.m. — fun for the whole family. Go to http://www.floydmemorial.org for more information.

 2. Basketball season continues full-force at North Fork Schools as the New Year progresses. Tonight, face Babylon at 6:15 p.m.; Southold girls take on Port Jefferson at 6:15 p.m., and Greenport boys play Pierson at 6:45 p.m.

 3. Teen athletes aren't the only ones getting exercise today. hosts its weekly exercise session before the snow really hits this morning from 10 to 11 a.m. in Peconic. Call 631-765-5182.

 4. Antique cars will be the next addition to the collection of buildings and antiques on the Cutchogue Village Green. A Model-T Ford pickup was donated to the last year, and the green will get a Village Garage to house the classic vehicle. Stay tuned today for the story.

 5. A unique lecture on the first steamship of its kind to hit the New York will take place on Sunday at the . Author John Busch will talk about his book "Steam Coffin: Captain Moses Rogers and The Steamship Savannah Break the Barrier" the story of an early 19th Century cross-Atlantic journey. Look for the story to advance the event today.
