UPDATE: 14 Outages Remain in Southold Town

However, the number of Shelter Island homes without power has jumped to over 140.

Update: The Long Island Power Authority is reporting that 14 outages remain in Southold Town – mostly in the hamlet of Southold and Cutchogue. Meanwhile overnight, Shelter Island's outages have jumped up to over 140, after fewer than five outages were noted on Sunday afternoon. All of the outages are reported in Shelter Island Heights.

Original story: Down from a  in the area at the height of Hurricane Sandy's damage, the Long Island Power Authority is reporting that 85 homes are without power in Southold Town, and less than five in Shelter Island.

According to LIPA's outage map, the bulk of the outages are reported in Mattituck, Southold hamlet, and Orient Point.

Just over 68,000 customers are reported to be without power across LIPA's grid, down from over 930,000 at one point.

Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone reported on Sunday evening that after speaking with managers at substations across Suffolk County, 99 percent of the power was back on in Suffolk.
