Shelter Island Blogger Takes a Winter Walk at Wades Beach

A few good shots of my Wades Beach winter walk, the idea I got while there, upcoming Slow Food East End events.

While dogwalking for a neighboring Islander, a very common practice around here, I get to enjoy the beauty of the Wades Beach area. The photos included with this post are from last night's walk in me and Rex just missed the sunset, but still enjoyed the beauty.

While walking I was going through upcoming events in my mind, and began to think of ideas for upcoming Slow Food East End meetings I will be attending. I volunteer for SFEE as part of their events, communications and education committees.

The events committee will be discussing ideas for next year, and I decided the next Slow Food Restaurant Crawl should be on Shelter Island. There are many wonderful restaurants on the Island using fresh, local ingredients.

I am also looking forward to discussing the SFEE website and other promotional ideas at the Communications Committee meeting at Aldo's in Greenport on Friday afternoon. All who may be interested in helping Slow Food East End communicate their mission to support local, healthy food choices, feel free to bring your ideas to Aldo's Friday, December 9th at 4pm and/or contact tullialimarzi@gmail.com

Speaking of local, healthy choices on the east end, The Market Whole Foods Cafe at 44 Front Street in Greenport will be hosting a brunch on Sunday with live music, healthy food, local wine and more! http://northfork.patch.com/events/slow-food-east-end-holiday-brunch Come check it out and stay for the Christmas parade!

If you want to host, plan or volunteer for Slow Food East End events, get involved in the conference call on Wednesday, December 14, at 10:00 am. Email Mary Morgan at msfm.morgan@gmail.com or Ed Bruehl at ebruehl@me.com.

Whatever you do, do it with a smile! Happy Winter to all!
