Winemaker Studio Approved for Liquor License

New Peconic venue for wine-tasting is on the homestretch to opening, says owner.

a renovated version of the in Peconic – has been approved for a liquor license by the New York State Liquor Authority, making opening day sooner than later.

But without the license in hand yet, owner Anthony Nappa said he's not even going to try to estimate when exactly that day will arrive.

"We thought we'd be open in June," said Nappa, who held a soft opening on June 1 for several in the local wine industry. "This whole thing is taking a lot longer than promised, but we're hoping to be open now in a couple of weeks."

Nappa is also the winemaker at in Mattituck and is using the Winemaker Studio to showcase his own wines he produces outside Shinn. The tasting room will also offer Grapes of Roth from winemaker Roman Roth of Wölffer Estate Vineyard, Suhru Wines from winemaker Russell Hearn of Pellegrini Vineyards, and Leo Family Red from winemaker John Leo of Clovis Point.

The Peconic space was formerly occupied by the tasting room and before that run by Broadfields Vineyards.
