White Flower Farmhouse to be Featured on HGTV

Peconic shop to get spotlight on 'Shop This Room.'

Staying in Saturday night? Turn on HGTV at 8 p.m. and enjoy a segment featuring Peconic’s on a new show called “Shop This Room.”

The show’s host, Danielle Colding, had won the opportunity to host her own television show earlier this year through an HGTV contest. Colding often visits the North Fork through a connection with her aunt, Nanette Commando, who works at, and decided to dedicate her first episode of “Shop This Room” to the North Fork.

“I was contacted in early April by the producers at HGTV, who told me that a new show would be airing late summer, and that the North Fork was the chosen location for the shoot,” said Lori Guyer, the owner of the White Flower Farmhouse. “That was all the info I was given. They called on a Monday and said they would arrive Wednesday at noon.”

Guyer said she had two days to get the shop camera ready, recruiting family and friends to clean, sweep and freshen up the store’s paint job. She spent a whole day gathering fresh vintage merchandise to fill up the shop.

“I was given little information - I had to sign a stack of papers and confidentially agreements,” Guyer said. “I could not tell anyone about who was arriving or what was going on.”

“Shop This Room” showcases before and after makeovers and takes viewers through the process of shopping for unique items for the design, blending new with vintage, big-box with boutique, etc. Colding also spent some time at Sang Lee Farms and the Jamesport Country Store for the segment.

“It was hard to hold that secret for all this time,” Guyer said. “It was such a fun opportunity!”
