When Mike Osinski moved to Greenport, one thing he didn't expect was to walk into a deed giving him the rights to four acres of underwater land. But that's what happened when, while applying for a dock, he realized that he owned more land than he thought he did.
The result was Widow's Hole Oyster Company, Osinski's oyster harvesting operation which now sells more than a ton of oysters per week into the New York City restaurant market.
"This is a world class product," said Osinski, a former Greenport Trustee, calling the bay an "underutilized resource."
