Three Minutes Across the Counter With: Rena Wilhelm

Rena Casey-Wilhelm of The White Weathered Barn in Greenport talks about the joys of creativity and working side by side with her husband.

"Three Minutes Across the Counter" is a new feature on Patch in which we chat with local business owners. If you would like to be featured, email Lisa.Finn@patch.com with the name of your business.

The new series kicks off today with Greenport shop owner Rena Casey-Wilhelm, who said she has found artistic inspiration on the North Fork. Working side by side with her husband Jason, Casey-Wilhelm said opening their business, The White Weathered Barn, in Greenport has infused her life with creativity and the joys of the area.

Patch: What's your morning routine?

Rena: The routine starts at 4 a.m. when my eldest cat wakes me for food, then again at 5 and 6 a.m. (He's old). I try to get back to sleep, only to oversleep and then make a mad dash to open my shop on time.

P: What do you do for a living? And what's the best thing about your job?

R: My husband and I own an home décor and gift boutique in Greenport. He and I make over 50 percent of the merchandise. The best thing about my job is being creative all day with my best friend, my husband.
