Still Time and Supply to Gas Up on the North Fork

Most North Fork gas station workers say they still have plenty of gas to get residents through Sunday's storm.

North Fork gas station workers say no worries — they are restocked on all types of gas and diesel fuel and are ready to serve on Saturday.

Mattituck BP gas station manager Recep Zaim said that he ran out of regular Friday afternoon after hours of non-stop gas pumping beginning first thing at 6 a.m. But the station was soon refilled and Zaim said that he's ready to go again on Saturday.

"It's been crazy," he said.

Frank Ligan at the full-serve Empire Station in Mattituck also confirmed that they were stocked up at least through Saturday, but Mattituck's Hess was nearly out of gas and Peconic's BP was dry by late Friday afternoon. Both were expected a load to be delivered by Friday night however.

Eddie Okul, the owner of the full-service Patriot station in Greenport, said he too was ready for another non-stop day on Saturday.

"I'm exhausted," he said.
