Southold Fish Market is Moving Across the Street

Source for fresh local fish to move out of the Heron Harbor Suites complex and into the former Hollister’s Restaurant.

is working to relocate the — a place he grew up working in and has owned since 1999 — from its longstanding spot in the complex in Southold across Route 25 into a trailer behind the former Hollister’s steak and seafood restaurant.

Manwaring said he didn’t want to talk too much about the move yet as of Monday morning, but he said he thought he’d be done in about three weeks. He needs to set up shop in the temporary building while the permitting process happens with the to reopen the long vacant Hollister’s.

“We have a ways to go,” he said.

The Southold Fish Market will be closed for business during the move. Heron Suites will be expanding their facilities into the old Southold Fish Market space.

This will be a good move for Charlie. He will have his own space, properly identified, on the road and in encumbered by another business, which was doing all it could to crowd him out over the past few years.

I know Charlie will do better in this new place OF HIS OWN. I agree with the other two statements on the move. But, I can't wait til he's back. Charlie good luck although you don't need it and I'll be there ad soon as you open.

Charlies fish is so fresh, and he keeps the shop so clean - he could sell fish anywhere!
