Shinn Estate Vineyards Honored By Bon Appetit

The vineyard was nominated one of 40 best food lovers' hotels across America.

A local vineyard received recognition on the international canvas recently.

Mattituck's Shinn Estate Vineyards was chosen by Bon Appetit as one of the Top 40 nominees for Best Food Lovers' hotels in America, 2013.

According to Bon Appetit, each of the 40 getaways features an experience "where the food (and drink) goes way beyond room-service eggs and a beer from the mini-bar."

Shinn Estate Vineyards, a "quaint little farmhouse on Long Island's North Fork," was given the nod because owners David Page and Barbara Shinn, are not only "generous hosts," but "nothing less than obsessed with viticulture (and food)," according to Bon Appetit.

Shinn Estate Vineyards drew raves from Bon Appetit for its breakfast. "Page, a former NYC chef and restaurateur, will cook you one of the best breakfasts you've ever had: flaky biscuits, savory duck hash, and farm-fresh eggs. In the late afternoon, a gratis happy hour materializes, with a selection of Shinn wines, local cheeses, and house-smoked charcuterie," according to Bon Appetit.
