Roanoke Vineyards Opens Mattituck Tasting Room — Quietly

Love Lane location of Riverhead winery has soft opening; grand opening planned for Sept. 22.

Wine tasting is now an option on Love Lane in Mattituck.

After months of remodeling, opened a tasting room last Thursday in the former building on the historic Mattituck shopping district street. The location is the, which is located on Sound Avenue in Riverhead. That tasting room will remain open as well, according to vintner Richard Pisacano, a Long Island native who has family ties to the new Mattituck location.

“It was kind of a no-brainer,” said Pisacano. “It’s a nice location and we went right to work.”

Renovations began around Christmas and took months to complete, with the addition of a full foundation to the building, which had been essentially sitting on bricks, having been moved from other locations on Love Lane over the years. But about 70 percent of the building is original, Pisacano said.

After a soft opening and a good Labor Day weekend, the Mattituck Roanoke will have a grand opening on Sept. 22.

“We’re not ready to make a big splash yet — just trying to digest the whole thing right now,” Pisacano said. “We’re open 363 days a year in Riverhead, so hopefully this location will allow us to close one day a week over there.”
