Rhumb Line Set for Reinvention with Greek Cuisine

Managers plan to give Greenport restaurant Rhumb Line a menu makeover and separate the bar from the dining room in time for an April reopening.

It's the last weekend to experience the as the Rhumb Line.

The long-standing Greenport restaurant and pub, known for its happy hour and lively bar scene at night on Front Street, will close on Monday for renovations. Manager and chef George Raptopoulos plans to reopen the restaurant in April with a new name and a brand new menu focusing on Greek cuisine.

“This winter is the slowest it’s been since we’ve owned the place in three years,” he said. “We want to change things up and offer something a little more upscale.”

Raptopoulos said that he plans to separate the dining area from the restaurant area with a glass partition and also plans to put raw fish and steaks on display so outdoor passersby can “see what they’ll be eating.”

“And we’re Greek,” he added. “We might as well do something Greek.”
