Review: Noah’s Celebrates One Year in Business

With its unique presentation of food and setting in the heart of Greenport, Noah's restaurant celebrates its first year in business.

Already moving full steam towardthe end of its first year in operation, Noah’s Restaurant in Greenport has added a unique style and flavor to North Fork cuisine.

Chef Noah Schwartz’s small plate arrangements and classy atmosphere have created quite a stir in the past year. The presentation of his food, complimented by the clean, simplistic, yet modern décor of the restaurant has attracted a local audience, in addition to visitors to the North Fork.

The restaurant is consistently packed with epicureans coming to try some of Noah’sfamous dishes. The biggest hits this year, according to Chef Noah’s wife Sunita Schwartz, were the Crescent Farm Pulled Duck over Cheddar Polenta and the New England Clam Chowder. Noah’s clam chowder is made fresh on the spot when you order it. They use high quality ingredients including locally grown produce and herbs. Other popular dishes on the menu include the Red Crab Stuffed Tacos, Crab Stuffed Deviled Eggs and a palette cleansing appetizer, Honey Bacon Beer Battered Almonds.

In addition, their extensive local wine and beer list and upscale cocktail lounge makes for a great dinner for two or a small gathering. During the warmer months, guests were enthusiastic about the outdoor seating area which gave diners an incredible view of Greenport village, while eating their meals.

Over the past year I have had the opportunity to taste almost everything on the menu and can say that the food is absolutely unique in design and is complex on the palette. Noah utilizes his ingredients in a “less equals more” fashion. He believes in bringing out the true flavor of different ingredients rather than over-spicing and smothering the natural essence of the food. The small portion size allows one to savor the meal, which allows for a more complete eating experience. The wait staff is well versed on how food is prepared and they are very helpful and friendly.

Chef Noah’s wife is often at the restaurant during the day and is a valuable addition to the business. She has a thorough knowledge and understanding about the chef’s cooking style. She cares about the success of the business and takes time to explain the dishes and Noah’s vision to diners in a warm and welcoming way. On the North Fork, it is an essential quality for businesses to have a knowledgeable person such as her on hand.

The restaurant seats approximately 70 people and reservations can be made over the phone or online. Noah's is open Thursday through Monday 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
