Patch Picks: 5 Places to Propose on Valentine's Day

Just in case you’re still trying to find the right spot to pop the big question ...

You've waited all of your life for this very moment. You’ve found the perfect girl and the perfect ring, but have you figured out where to pop the question? Here are a few ideas, just in case:

Greenport’s is one of the best places to spend time with your sweetie. So, why not pop the question there? Maybe you can let out your inner child and pop the question while taking a ride on the antique carousel or ask her the big question while ice skating. Either way, this quaint location is sure to have your fiancée-to-be swooning.

If Mitchell Park is too crowded on Valentine’s Day, another beautiful North Fork location is . It’s sure to be quite that day and the rolling hills and incredible views of Long Island Sound make for a romantic scene that she will remember for the rest of her life.

Yeah, it’s cold outside this time of year. Maybe a dinner in a nice cozy romantic setting in a warm restaurant is a better way to warm her heart. Try , in Greenport. The less-fancy Grille Room offers a quiet, semi-private atmosphere, but if you really want to ensure that your moment is truly one-on-one, you can propose to your honey while having an after-dinner cocktail in front of the fire in The Portly Grape’s intimate Library.

Sure, the North Fork is a great place to propose any time of year, but there is something truly magical about Manhattan. Take the to NYC, book a room at an awesome boutique hotel (Murray Hill has a few nice ones) and pop the question at one of the city’s many famous landmarks, or be creative (maybe pop the question at a hole-in-the-wall Indian restaurant). Regardless, the possibilities are endless in the city that never sleeps.

If New York City is not your thing and it is too cold outside and you really, really want to make sure that the big question is popped in absolute privacy, why not ask her to marry you in the comfort of your own home. Don’t forget to clean the place up first, bachelors. You can order her favorite takeout, but if you cook her a romantic dinner (even if it's not very good) you’re bound to score extra points.
