Open for the Season: Peconic Water Sports

The charter service offers water sport lessons and fishing charters.

If your 2013 summer must-do list includes water sports, there are a number of local businesses to help you put check marks next to those ideas, including Greenport's Peconic Water Sports, which just opened for the season.

Peconic Water Sports, located at Prestons in Greeport, offers numerous activities though its charter service, including lessons for wakeboarding, waterskiing, surfing and tubing.

According to the company's website, lessons start at $295 per hour for up to 6 people and go up to $495 for two hours and $245 for each additional hour.

In addition, the company provides fishing charters, dinner and scenic cruses around the East End's waterways.

The company also has a children's water sport instructional program, called RIDE, which is geared for kids, ages 7 to 15. The program, which runs $700 per week, $150 per day, operates from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The company was founded in 2011 by Joey Flotteron, captain and professional wakeboard coach and also provides pick-up service at a number of locations on the North Fork and the Hamptons, including Dering Harbor and Sunset Beach.

The charter company's fleet of boats are all brand-new, custom-made Malibu wakeboard boats, each operated by United States Coast Guard-licensed captains.

All programs require advanced reservations, which can be made by calling 609-937-9801. For more information, visit Peconic Water Sports online at www.peconicwatersports.com
