Memorial Day Weekend Spotlight: Osprey's Dominion's Wind-Produced Wine to Help Wounded Warriors

Money from sales of Ascent — wine made with wind power — will go to the Wounded Warrior charity.

The owners of have wanted to produce a wine made completely with wind power — now they have it and would like to put it to good use.

Ascent is the name of the wine — the first made by power generated by the Peconic winery's installed during by Jamie Minnick and his crew at of Mattituck. The turbine will be dedicated at 2 p.m. with a short ceremony and live music, and 10 percent of all sales of Ascent will be donated to the fund.

Osprey’s Dominion will save approximately $8,500 in electricity annually, and the turbine has an expected lifetime of over 20 years. Their windmill, standing at 120 feet, is the second largest on Long Island.
