Memorial Day Weekend Spotlight: Greenport Farmers' Market Debuts

After much ado about its location, Greenport unveils its farmers' market this coming Saturday.

After months of back-and-forth conversations about its ideal location, the will in a section of parking lot on the corner of First and Adams Streets across from in the village.

Farmer's market organizers first planned to use every Saturday morning through Oct. 15 for the market, but after village officials and community members for any kind of regular commercial endeavour, the Adams Street location was chosen.

Shoppers will have their pick of farm-fresh produce, honey, goat cheese, eggs, baked goods, plants, wine, and personal products made from local ingredients. Each week a local wine maker will also be featured. Raffles and a ribbon-cutting ceremony with Greenport Mayor David Nyce and commence at 10 a.m. Visit GreenportFarmersMarket.com for more information.
