Meeting Planned For Business Owners to Brainstorm Ideas For Promoting Off Peak-Season

Businesses are asked to brainstorm and come up with ideas for a successful "Taste North Fork" event.

For the second time in recent weeks, business owners will come together to plan ways to keep tourism thriving during the shoulder season.

On Monday, the Southold Economic Development Committee will team up with the North Fork Promotion Council for a meeting of Southold business owners to discuss efforts to extend the tourist season through the year.

Recently, a similar meeting was held to discuss the "Taste North Fork" event planned for Veterans Day weekend.

Monday night's meeting, held at 6 p.m. at the Peconic Lane Community Center, will keep the dialogue vibrant on how to best take advantage of the event, which was planned after a grant was awarded to the  East End Tourism Alliance to help keep tourism alive even after the summer crowds have headed home.

The goal is to create an event so successful, it's repeated for years to come.
