Local Restaurants Open for Christmas Eve Dinner 2012

Time is ticking away to make dinner reservations for Christmas Eve this year. If you are planning a family gathering for Christmas Eve, many North Fork and Riverhead restaurants will be open for business. Here is a selection: 

1. Recently renovated from necessity after Hurricane Sandy caused extensive flood damage, Scrimshaw in Greenport will be open Christmas Eve as well as New Year’s Eve this year. 2. Craving Buffalo meat this year? Tweed’s in downtown Riverhead is open for business and will be offering its regular menu for the evening, which includes salads, shellfish, steaks, and chicken. The restaurant will stay open until about 9 p.m. Call 631-208-3151.

3. With the move to Cutchogue nearly two years ago from a waterside location at Matt-A-Mar Marina in Mattituck, Touch of Venice will be celebrating the season with its Italian specialties. They open at 12 p.m. on Christmas Eve and will be taking tables until about 7 p.m. Call 631-298-5851 to make your reservation.

4. Stonewall’s Restaurant in Riverhead will be open and offering its regular dinner menu as well at a special Christmas Eve menu of an appetizer, main course and dessert for $50 per person. Call 631-506 0777 to make your reservation.

5. Looking for a casual spot for a small family or larger extended family? O’Mally’s in Southold will be open on Christmas Eve with an extensive menu of many appetizers and burger specials. Call 631-765-2111.

6. The Bayview Inn and Restaurant in South Jamesport is also accepting reservations for Christmas Eve dinner. They feature fresh local produce and local wines. Dinner reservations will be accepted until about 7:30 p.m. Call 631-722-2659.

7. aMano on the Route 25 in Mattituck is also accepting reservations for Christmas Eve. The restaurant features local wines and casual fair. Call 631-298-4800.

8. The Cooperage Inn in Calverton will be offering special Christmas Eve entrée items ranging from $25 to $38 per person. Reservations are being accepted until 7:30 p.m. Call 631-727-8994.

9. If you're craving seafood Christmas Eve, the North Fork Oyster Company in Greenport will be open with a special four-course meal and drink specials. Call 631-477-6840.

10. Dark Horse Restaurant, 1 East Main Street in Riverhead, will be open Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Their menu covers the full spectrum of choices for diners, gluten free, vegan and a regular menu that includes Bison.  They are a 5-Star restaurant at 2-Star prices that is a leader in the revitalization of downtown Riverhead.
