Local Musician Cooks Up Kickstarter Campaign For New Album

Brady Rymer has a fundraising goal of $20,000.

Grammy-nominated musician and Southold resident Brady Rymer has a new album planned — and he's embarked on a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for the new CD.

Rymer aims to raise $20,000 for his new album, "Just Say Hi!" by Dec. 13; so far, he's pulled in $2916.

The records will be the seventh for Brady Rymer & the Little Band That Could, and is being created, he said, for "families that rock."

The six CDS of family music have been performed across the country at schools, libraries, festivals and performing arts centers, Rymer said.

Rymer and his wife Bridget run their own record label, Bumblin' Bee Records, and release all their CDs themselves.

"The process can be challenging, but the rewards make it all worthwhile:  we make music we really care about, and we get to bring our music directly to our fans — you —the kids and families who enjoy it," he said.

The new album, Rymer said, is a "personal batch of songs, full of kindness, friendship and love of family. Songs about things like falling in love with the ice cream girl, learning to play Grandma's red piano, and just cranking' up your little light of love and lettin' it shine."

The Kickstarter campaign, Rymer said, will give fans a unique chance to get involved with the album-making process.

Donations will give fans a chance to receive a fan package, the chance to record with the band and have a name in the CD credits, a private CD release concert at Rymer's house, limited edition T-shirts, personalized with supporters' names; a private concert at a fan's school or home, and a guitar from Rymer's collection.

If the Kickstarter goal is reached, the album is expected to be released in June, 2014, but those who make donations will receive the album in May.
