Local Dairy Farm Awarded for Feta, Chevre Cheese

Goodale Farms, which just opened up in May, wins awards at national competition.

It didn't take long for Hal Goodale to get his farm on the map.

Goodale Farms, which has been selling produce for a couple of years though just recently started fine tuning its specialty as a dairy farm, took home first place in October for its plain chevre and unflavored feta cheese in the American Dairy Goat Association's National Convention, according to a report in Edible East End.

The farm received its license to sell dairy in May, and Goodale, who formerly owned a window and door company, said he wanted to get into an agricultural niche nobody in the area was doing.
