Greenport's Portly Grape Inn and Restaurant Shuts Its Doors

After only a year and a half, the Portly Grape in Greenport closes, according to the Long Island Wine Press.

After extensive renovation and a year and a half in business, the in Greenport has closed and the property is for sale, according to a report in the Long Island Wine Press.

The Wine Press said that the restaurant's owners, Denise Burke and Michael Liegey Sr., were evicted on Monday because they did not pay their rent and that potential tenants have already shown interest in the building, which was formerly home to the Shady Lady restaurant.

recently took a drive to Greenport to visit the WineBar — the hybrid wine bar and tasting room that opened inside the Portly Grape on June 30 — and gave the place a stellar review.
