WATCH: Inside Jeweler Eric Messin's Design Studio

Waldo Cabrera of "My Long Island TV" visited jeweler Eric Messin at his design studio in the Pelletreau Silver Shop in Southampton Village to learn about Messin's craft.

Pelletreau Silver Shop was built in 1668 and stands at its original location on Main Street. Originally a dry goods store, it was purchased in 1717 by whale oil merchant Francis Pelletreau. His grandson, silversmith Elias Pelletreau, used it as a workshop between 1750 and 1810. Elias, a local hero, was a captain in the Suffolk County Militia during the Revolutionary War.

The wait staff at The Palm in East Hampton put together a "Harlem Shake" video, a video dance craze that's gone viral.


Hampton Bays Chef Opens Doors to North Fork Restaurant

David Distenfeld, of Hampton Bays, has re-opened a North Fork restaurant that he co-owns with his business partner, Danelle Grzegorczyk.

The Crazy Fork, a seafood eatery that launched last August in Mattituck reopened, according Distenfeld, after it closed in January and Februry for some remodeling.


Developers behind a new apartment complex on West Main Street in Riverhead have plans to integrate features that spotlight safety and security in the face of natural disasters and storms.

Rafi Weiss, president of Simshabs X, Inc. the developer behind the proposed Blue River Estates project on West Main Street, said with recent hurricanes and storms, proactive measures will be taken when designing the five-story building that will protect residents from flooding, power loss, and other issues.


Hop Farmer Hits Kickstarter Goal

About 24 hours after Keith Luce funded his project through Kickstarter for a meat curing house on Love Lane in Mattituck, Wading River hop farmer John Condzella surpassed his .

The machine – called "The Wolf" – will allow both his farm on Route 25A, as well as other hop farmers on Long Island, to harvest one of the main ingredients for beer at a much faster rate, leading to better and fresher use for a blossoming microbrew industry (one of which was funded through a Kickstarter campaign of its own).
