Altman's North Fork Home Moves to Love Lane

Sewing supply and needle art shop to take over former pharmacy space in Mattituck.

After a year trying to run a retail business in Cutchogue on Route 25, sewing expert Kate Altman is making the move to a location with more foot traffic — she’s taking over the former space of on Love Lane in Mattituck.

Altman will rename her business Altman’s Needlearts from the current Altman’s North Fork Home. The shop specializes in canvases, embroidery, knitting and sewing supplies. Sewing and needlework classes for children and adults are also offered here.

Altman is a member of a Monday morning business networking group that meets once a month at the One morning, she looked across the street and saw the space for rent and decided to take the plunge.

“I figured — this is something I can’t afford not to afford,” she said. “I’ve been looking for a place on Love Lane for a long time.”

Altman plans to reopen in Mattituck over Labor Day weekend. In the meantime, she is having a moving sale through Aug. 18 at her Cutchogue location next to Touch of Venice.

“We will continue to find and offer the ‘best cards on the North Fork’ (so customers say) and the heavenly pure beeswax candles we’ve become known for,” she wrote in an email.

Needlework classes and workshops will also restart in September. Check out
