5 Things To Do This Weekend

Take it easy this weekend before getting into full-on holiday mode.

Enjoy one of the last non-holiday-focused weekends left of the year at local wineries, art galleries and nature preserves:

1. From Nov. 4 throughout the winter, will stay open on Friday evenings until 8 p.m. for a special evening of wine, cheese and  Joan Bernhardt will conduct palm readings from 5 to 8 p.m. for $20 per session. Glasses of wine and cheese plates are $5 each.

2. Greenport hosts an informational session Friday at 6 p.m. on how you can help. It's a special presentation by the Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation, sponsored by the North Fork Audubon Society.

3. through the woods at Riverhead on Saturday at 9 a.m. with Mary Laura Lamont, local naturalist and birding expert. Bring binoculars, appropriate apparel, and sturdy footwear.

of local artists Barbara Groot and Keith Mantell at , 370 Manor Lane in Jamesport, on Sunday at 3 p.m.  The exhibit features East End inspirations — the heart of much of their work. Local wines and artisan cheeses will be served.

Then you'll love the music of LARK, an a cappella group with repertoire ranging from Italian Renaissance to American Jazz. They will be performing on Sunday at 4 p.m. at, 1160 Skipper's Lane in Orient. Tickets are $7 with light refreshments to follow.
