Help us eliminate single use plastic carry out bags in Southold Town.
Let's make the East End a more environmentally friendly place for people and animals. Plastic kills 1.5 million marine animals each year. Sea turtles, whales, and seabirds pay for plastic bags with their lives; many species are threatened with extinction. You can give your children a more sustainable Southold Town and a cleaner world. Help pass legislation to eliminate single use plastic bags in Southold Town by signing this petition online:

Or come to the North Fork audubon society headquarters in Greenport to sign the petition in person.
I agree there is a problem with the bags, that seem to never biodegrade, and harm animals. But if it means people are going to buy bags for trash, that won't reduce the number of bags around, at least not for those of us who use them for trash.
