CAST Collects School Supplies

School supply lists can be daunting for families struggling to get by.

With many families in Southold Town living below the poverty line, back to school lists can be daunting.

According to Community Action of Southold Town, for those families in need, buying school supplies could mean making hard choices, and foregoing medicine, rent payments or food.

To help ease the burden, CAST has launched a school supply drive. Local businesses are serving as local collection sites for school supplies; residents are asked to buy a few items to help.

Some local businesses are stepping up to help, CAST staffers said: Alex Ferrone Photography Gallery & Studio pledged 50 backpacks and has reached out on its own Facebook page for associates to contribute the necessary supplies to pack these backpacks, according to CAST.
