'On Golden Pond’ Will Go On

North Fork Community Theater's version of the famous film will debut Friday night.

Mattituck’s community theater has power and is ready to present its second play of the 2012-13 season — "On Golden Pond" will debut on Friday at 8 p.m. at the North Fork Community Theater, with a reception taking place at 7 p.m.

“Tickets were selling like hotcakes before the storm,” saidboard member and head of fundraising for North Fork Community Theater, adding that she hopes to get the “show must go on” word out to the community.

The 1979 play "On Golden Pond" was made famous in 1981, when Henry Fonda and Katharine Hepburn took the roles of the aging Ethel and Norman Thayer to Academy Award-winning heights. The play is highlighted by the estranged relationship between Norman and his grown daughter, Chelsea, another role made famous in the film by Jane Fonda.
