Local Voices Star in 'How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying'

Opening night of North Fork Community Theater's latest production happens Thursday.

The local production of the musical — features an ensemble cast and a star-studded recorded cast of famous local voices playing the role of "the book voice." Community leaders such as Southold Town Supervisor Scott Russell, CEO Andy Mitchell and WLNG 92.1 DJ Gary Sapiane can be heard over the P.A. on different days of the production, which runs through April 1.

"How to Succeed" opened on Broadway in 1961, won several Tony Awards and won the Pulitzer Prize for drama in 1962. The story revolves around a New York City window cleaner named J. Pierrepont Finch, a young man who wants to advance in life. In the play, a "Book Voice" tells him that one book — How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying —contains the secrets to the success he desires.

Matthew Broderick and Megan Mullally starred in a revival in 1995, and another version starring John Larroquette and Daniel Radcliffe opened last March.

NFCT's show opens on March 15 and runs through April 1. Each Thursday, , and Cheese Emporium will host an opening reception at the theater at 7 p.m. A post-performance party on opening night happens at in Mattituck. Weekend evening performances begin at 8 p.m.,
