Y.E.S. (Youth Engaged in Service)

In partnership with the Forever Young Foundation and Youth Service America, the Floyd Memorial Library is running a new teen community service-learning program.  Snacks will be provided!

The goal of the program is to give local youth a voice and an opportunity to create positive changes in the community.  The first project is to organize a community work day at the 3rd Street basketball court in Greenport.  The event will take place on Saturday, April 16th as a part of Global Youth Service Day.  Activities will include an early Earth Day trash clean-up of the surrounding area, painting fences, and planting a community garden.  Y.E.S. members will assist with planning and promoting the event, soliciting donations of supplies from local businesses, and contacting press, local officials and organizations.
