Port of Egypt Marine Spring Open House & Waterfront Festival

Port of Egypt Marine, the North Fork’s award-winning full-service marina, water sports recreation center and Grady-White fishing and cruising boat dealership, hosts its annual spring open house and waterfront festival on Friday evening, March 30, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m., and all day Saturday March 31 and Sunday April 1, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. The free and family-friendly event includes boating and water sports trials and tips; nature talks; food, wine and beer tastings with live acoustic guitar music; and local artist exhibits.

The schedule for March 31st and April 1st is as follows:

*11:15 a.m. – 12 p.m. – Boating Q & A with Eric Sorensen, author of Sorensen’s Guide to Powerboats: How to Evaluate Design,

Construction and Performance, a 500-page, definitive reference for marine professionals and inquiring boat owners. His writings on  

powerboats have been widely published in consumer and trade publications including Soundings and Professional Boatbuilder. He is

the founding director of the J.D. Power and Associates Marine Practice, and has been a consultant to leading boat and engine

manufacturers, currently including Grady-White, and to Special Operations Command and US Coast Guard boat builders. He has

taught boat design at the Department of Homeland Security and consults for the US Navy’s PEO Ships at NAVSEA.

*All Day – Cornell Cooperative Eel Grass Program – The importance of eel grass and how the Cornell Cooperative is restoring it

including newest transplanting methods and live planting at Port of Egypt Marine

*All Day – Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research – Dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of seals, sea turtles,

whales, dolphins, and porpoises, experts tell how to adopt, what to do if a marine mammal is sick, and how to become a
