3rd Annual Song Swap

Oysterponds Community Activities is presenting the 3rd Annual Song Swap at Poquatuck Hall on Saturday, April 28 at 7pm.  The event is a fundraiser to replace the furnace in Orient’s historic Poquatuck Hall – hence we're calling this one a "Heat Raiser."  The Song Swap is a great outpouring of local voices singing their favorite songs together.  Organized by Gideon D’Arcangelo, the Song Swap is set up like the living room of a family of musicians at home, swapping songs all evening with friends and neighbors.  The audience sings along or just listens as they like.  Gideon will be Master of Ceremonies – he is a singer and guitarist who learned many of his songs while working with Alan Lomax, the American folklorist and songhunter.  Local musicians Nancy Baxter, Helen Hooke, Larry Bull, Grayson Murphy, Karen and Michael Haley, Dave Berson and many others will perform, along with debuts by Gideon Burnes Heath, Jack Wedge and other bright lights in Orient’s next generation of musicians.
