10 Places to Celebrate New Year's Eve

North Fork businesses are offering many unique ways to bring in the New Year.

Looking to celebrate New Year's Eve on the North Fork? Local businesses will open their doors for fantastic parties, featuring everything from celebrating with sharks, gazing at the stars and a harborfront fireworks display. Here's a list of 10 different places to celebrate across the North Fork.

1. Atlantis Marine World

Maybe Atlantis in Riverhead does not come to mind as a hot ticket on New Year's Eve, but the family friendly is a hot ticket. Dinner, dancing, visiting exhibits and a champagne toast will be on tap for the evening. The event runs from 6:30 to 11 p.m. The cost for children is $49 ($39 for members) and $85 for adults ($75 for members). Reservations are required.

At 10 p.m. the Greenport Carousel will open for a special New Year's party. Enjoy food and beverages in the carousel building. At midnight, walk out into Mitchell Park and watch the raising of the anchor and fireworks display. Tickets are $25 for the carousel party but the anchor raising and fireworks are free. Enjoy live music with Nina Et Cetera starting at 6 p.m. at Sparkling Pointe Winery in Southold. The event is free and reservations are not required.

For a laid-back New Year's Eve, try a champagne toast and a plate from a free buffet at Finnegan's Wake in South Jamesport. The party starts at 8 p.m. at this down home-style bar located on the corner of Third and Center Streets. The jukebox is free all night and pool tables are aplenty.

The will take place on New Year's Eve at Martha Clara Vineyards in Riverhead. Local comedians will take the stage on this special night. The Comedy Festival starts at 8 p.m. and costs $35 in advance and $45 at the door.

For a unique way to bring in the New Year, why not bring the whole family to Custer Institute in Southold?  There will be a buffet filled with finger foods and beverages. Enjoy music by Ahmad Ali and Friends and dance under the stars. There will be a champagne toast at midnight. The cost is $30 for adults ($25 for members and guests), $15 for students, and $5 for children.

The Portly Grape is one of the newest restaurants on the North Fork and New Year's Eve is a great time to try out this new business in Greenport. A five-course dinner will be followed by ballroom dancing lessons. Dancing will last until midnight where there will be New Year's toast in the beautiful lobby.

On the western edge of the North Fork, another new restaurant, Comtesse Therese Bistro in Aquebogue will offer a special price fixe menu on New Year's Eve. This new bistro is located in a historic farmhouse and the menu features local seafood and produce. The New Year's Eve dinner is $65 per person. Please call for reservations.

The Soundview in Greenport has a long history of New Year's Eve parties. This year revelers can enjoy an a la carte dinner, a New Year's Eve Gala in the Gold Room, or Danny Keys in the Red Bar. The Gold Room Gala starts at 9 p.m. Call for dinner reservations.

The new Hotel Indigo in Riverhead will offer two distinct experiences on New Year's Eve.  The Indigo Ballroom will be converted to a jazz lounge for one evening starting at 9 p.m. Enjoy a tapas menu, dancing, and music for $125 per person. Bistro 72 will offer a full five-course dinner starting at 6 p.m. for $72 plus tax and tips. Please call to make reservations.
