When is the Mattituck Strawberry Festival?

The crowning of the Strawberry Queen is a highlight of the Mattituck Lions Club Strawberry Festival.

It's almost time for one of the North Fork's beloved events of the season.

The 59th annual Mattituck Lions Club Strawberry Festival will be held on June 13 through 16 at Strawberry Field on Sound Avenue in Mattituck.

The festivities kick off with hulling night on Thursday, when the community comes together to hull the berries and enjoy strawberry shortcake and conversation with old friends.

On Sunday, as always, dads can enter free for Father's Day, with the admission of a paid child.

The event features strawberry daiquiris, shortcake and dipped berries, an international food court, rides and amusements, live music, arts and crafts, and the crowning of this year's Strawberry Queen -- last year's winner, Caitlin Penny, will pass on the crown -- on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Fireworks will take place Friday and Saturday at 9 p.m.
