What Do You Think About Alcohol At Festivals?

Do you think public drinking is all part of the fun?

Spirits were high and beer was flowing at the 39th Annual Polish Town Street Fair and Polka Festival this weekend.

With patrons being offered free brewskis if they could down the first glass in one long gulp, many visitors became a bit tipsy, spectators reported.

But despite the tippling, Riverhead Town Police reported Monday that the two day event went off without a hitch and was "pretty quiet."

Two were charged with disorderly conduct, a violation, and arrested on Saturday at 4:46 p.m., police said, likely due to public drinking that led to a disagreement.

With drinking a large part of outdoor festivals in both Riverhead and the North Fork, Patch wants to know what you think. Is the consumption of beer and wine all part of the experience — or do you think public drinking isn't necessary for a good time? Share your thoughts with Patch.
