#67: Enjoy Greenport Skating Rink's Public Skating and More

The Greenport Skating Rink is open for business and offers more than just public skating sessions.

It might be cold outside but things are starting to heat up at the skating rink in Greenport’s . With the Greenport Pirates hockey season under way and the skating school starting this Saturday morning, there’s a lot going on at the rink. Here are ways to enjoy the rink this season.

  1. Friday nights are family fun nights at the rink. From 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., take the family out for a spin under the stars. The cost is $7 per person and includes the cost of skate rental.
  2. Have your child or teen’s birthday party at the rink. For $250, 12 skaters get to use the rink. The cost includes admission, the cost of food from or Harborfront Deli, and skate rentals. Additional skaters are $15 each.
  3. Have a family reunion coming up? Or are you looking for an outdoor activity for your group or school? Two-hour private rentals are available for $325.
  4. Adult open hockey is scheduled for Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings. The cost is $15 per evening or $75 for the season. The Thursday evening session is open to skaters 35 and older. Hockey players 16 and up can enjoy the Sunday and Tuesday hockey sessions. Full gear is required.
  5. If you are a little unsure about your skills on the ice, private lesson are available by appointment only. Price is $15 per half hour.
  6. The Buzz Deschamps Youth Hockey Clinic will be on held on Jan. 8 from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. All Greenport Youth Hockey Club members are invited to attend. The cost for this special event is $5 per person.

The rink is open to the public on Mondays from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m., Tuesday through Friday from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.
