Take a Hike: Kempf Preserve

With the beach never too far, it's hard not to want to take a walk by the Long Island Sound when stepping into the outdoors. But there are plenty of other trails in the area, one of which is tucked away in Wading River off Sound Road.

The Edward J. and Dorothy C. Kempf Preserve, run by the Nature Conservancy, is comprised of two trails, an east and west loop. With only a few parking spots available, it's easy to miss on the narrow road that leads to Wading River Beach.

We took the west loop this week, through marsh and fallen trees from last fall's storm, and more.

Have you been to this walking trail? What do you think of it? Have any favorites of your own?
