Roadway Buckles As Temps Soar
Did you notice the heat-buckled road in Southold Tuesday?
Baby, it's hot outside.
So hot that Tuesday's soaring temps caused a section of roadway on County Road 48 just east of Boisseau Avenue in Southold to buckle.
According to Southold police, the Suffolk County Department of Public Works responded, placing barrels and cones to divert traffic onto the shoulder.
Wednesday morning, crews were hard at work repairing the roadway. Police said only one vehicle was reported damaged due to the road condition.
