Mattituck Historical Tree Lighting Draws Dozens of Carolers

Enthusiastic crowd gathers for some egg nog and carols at society's annual tree lighting.

Mattituck-Laurel Historical Society experienced one of their biggest Christmas tree lightings in recent memory Saturday evening, with dozens showing up to sample scrumptious baked goods, hot apple cider, festive caroling, and the traditional Christmas tree lighting at dusk.

The Ira Tuthill House, circa 1841, the Jesse Tuthill House, circa 1799, the "Out-Building" with 19th century farm equipment, Mattituck's first school house, circa 1780, and the west Mattituck school house, circa 1845, on the society's property in Mattituck were all illuminated.
