The annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot, a fundraiser for the Mattituck High School Teachers' Association, got off to a late start Thursday morning, with over 1,000 participants ready to run a 5K through the streets of Mattituck.
"We're a victim of our own success," said race organizer Jim Underwood through a loud speaker, apologizing for the delayed start.
Rick Trojanowski and Mattituck eight-grader Melanie Pfenning were the overall winners.
